From Regional Stories to New Pop Culture Worlds
Workshop · Day 1 · Thu 22 October 2026, 4:15 pm – 5:45 pm · Aljada, Sharjah
From Regional Stories to New Pop Culture Worlds is an interactive workshop exploring how to transform local ideas into compelling visual narratives for animation and comics. Led by Emirati filmmaker Fadel AlMheiri of Tent Pictures Productions FZ LLC, the session focuses on adapting regional heritage and stories into engaging fantasy and sci-fi worlds, drawing on AlMheiri’s experience with projects like Kingdom of Peacocks.
Key points include generating and testing story ideas using "what if" scenarios, structuring narratives with the three-act format, and developing relatable protagonists and complex antagonists inspired by regional examples. By the end of this workshop, aspiring writers, comic creators, and animators will have practical tools to craft original stories and pitch their own concepts.
