Doug Sweetland
Director & Animator
Doug Sweetland is a director and animator whose work helped shape Pixar’s early films, including Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, and The Incredibles. He earned back-to-back Annie Awards for animation, and his directorial debut, the Pixar short Presto, received both Annie and Oscar nominations.
Beyond Pixar, Sweetland launched Google’s VR series Spotlight Stories with Windy Day and later co-directed the feature Storks with Nick Stoller. He currently directs branded content with Psyop while continuing to work across independent animation and emerging technology.
At SACC, Sweetland will share insights from directing Presto, with a focus on story, performance, and timing, and revisit Pixar’s legacy through sessions connected to Toy Story and Monsters, Inc. Attendees can expect firsthand perspectives on animation craft, comedic storytelling, and bringing iconic films to life.
