Essam Al Sayed
Play Director — National Theatre of Egypt
Essam Al Sayed is a play director at the National Theatre of Egypt who has directed more than 70 productions across theater, television, and large-scale national performances since 1981. His work has earned major recognition, including the State Award for Excellence in the Arts, and has been presented at festivals across the Arab world and internationally.
Alongside his stage career, Al Sayed produced Arabic audio tracks for several Walt Disney films during the company’s early operations in the region. He has also led festival juries, delivered workshops and lectures, and continues to teach part-time at the Academy of Arts while serving cultural institutions in Egypt.
At SACC, Al Sayed will speak in “Buzz in Arabic: Bringing Toy Story to a New Voice,” sharing insights from his experience adapting and producing Arabic-language audio for Disney films.
