Mbuotidem Johnson
CEO / Producer — Basement Animation
Mbuotidem Johnson is the Founder and CEO of Basement Animation Studio, a Lagos-based company working in animation and audiovisual production. With more than 15 years in the industry, he has built a track record as a producer and studio leader, with credits including Halim’s Vote, which won Best International Film at the Toronto Animation Arts Festival International in 2022.
His recent work also includes The Xpaits, officially selected in competition at Annecy 2024. Alongside his studio work, he is a founder of Animation Nigeria, reflecting his commitment to growing the country’s animation sector.
At SACC, Johnson will share insights from the producer’s side of the industry across sessions including Smart Production - Data-Driven Animation Pipelines, Women Leading the Narrative Shift, and Meet the Producers.
