Minasie Terefe

Minasie Terefe is a multiple award-winning animation director and co-founder of Behagerlij Studio, Ethiopia’s premier animation studio. He is known for directing internationally screened shorts including Zarem Arbegna and Endegena, and in 2026 made African history at the Annecy Festival MIFA Pitches with a double win for his preschool animated series Sunday Morning.
With more than a decade in animation, Terefe leads the creative vision for original IPs at Behagerlij Studio. His work is rooted in culturally grounded storytelling and spans short-form filmmaking as well as series development.
At SACC, Terefe will share insights across Africa & the Arab World - New Frontiers in Animation and From Short to Series / Feature - Making the Leap, drawing on his experience building original projects and expanding from shorts into series work.
