Sofia El Khyari
Animation director — Oneiris Animation
Sofia El Khyari is an animation director, filmmaker, and artist, and the founder of Oneiris Animation, Morocco’s first production company dedicated to independent auteur animation. Her films have been screened at major international festivals including Locarno, TIFF, and Annecy, and have been exhibited by institutions such as the Institut du Monde Arabe, the Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac, and the Cinémathèque Française.
El Khyari’s work spans independent animation and filmmaking, with a focus on distinctive visual storytelling and atmospheric, auteur-driven projects. As both a director and producer, she brings experience in building original animated films and shaping them for international audiences.
At SACC, she will share insights into global approaches to feature filmmaking and the process of developing an atmospheric storyboard inspired by a poem.
