Sofia El Khyari
Animation director — Oneiris Animation
Sofia El Khyari is an animation director and artist, and the founder of Oneiris Animation, Morocco’s first production company dedicated to independent auteur animation. Her films have screened at major international festivals including Locarno, TIFF and Annecy, and have been exhibited by institutions such as the Institut du Monde Arabe, the Musée du Quai Branly–Jacques Chirac and the Cinémathèque Française.
Her work brings together filmmaking and visual art, with a focus on atmosphere, authorship and poetic storytelling. As both a director and producer, she has helped shape a distinct space for independent animation within Morocco and beyond.
At SACC, Sofia El Khyari will share insights across feature filmmaking, atmospheric storyboard development inspired by poetry, and the creative starting points behind short films by Arab women directors.
